We’ve all had those days: You wake up in the morning and wish you could cover the wrinkles on your forehead with bangs (if you had them), a hat (if you could find one that looked right), or large sunglasses (if you could wear them indoors like a movie star).
But for most of us, those solutions just won’t work. We rely instead on treatments that aim to get rid of—not hide—those pesky lines and wrinkles on our forehead. But which treatments really work? And is there one time-saving treatment that will get rid of all the wrinkles on your forehead in a short amount of time? This article will share 6 ways to treat forehead wrinkles.
1. Rub Ice Cubes On Your Forehead
If you were an athlete in high school, knew an athlete in high school, or even walked past a gym at some point in high school, you were likely aware of the utility of ice for soothing sore muscles. Ice reduces inflammation and increases blood flow in an attempt to keep the area warm. But what does this have to do with treating wrinkles on your forehead? Everything.
The skin of your forehead sits atop a muscle. Yes, it’s a thin muscle, but it’s a muscle nonetheless. With repeated motion, sun exposure, and age, the forehead muscle can suffer damage and break down. When that happens, wrinkles on your forehead can begin to form. But the fact that there’s a muscle there also means that the same principles that work to treat sore shoulders and knees can work to treat foreheads. When the forehead muscle exhibits less inflammation and receives more blood, the skin on top becomes happy, healthy, and wrinkle-free.
To begin using ice to treat forehead wrinkles, place 6-12 ice cubes in a plastic baggie. Then hold the ice-filled bag on your forehead for up to 10 minutes. For a more intense treatment option, try rubbing an ice cube directly on your forehead for 5 minutes. This is also a great way to put some moisture in your skin. Please note, if you feel discomfort at any time, remove the ice immediately. And never hold ice on your forehead for more than 10 minutes.
2. Apply A Sweet Banana & Yogurt Mask
Bananas are chocked full of the same vitamins and nutrients you look for in a good moisturizer, so it’s no wonder this mask works so well. The honey in the recipe below gives the mask its sweetness and provides natural moisturizers, antioxidants, and antimicrobials. And the yogurt’s lactic acid dissolves dead skin cells and tightens pores. All in all, it’s a potent trifecta for treating wrinkles on your forehead and rejuvenating dry skin. Here’s how to put it together.
- Mash a ripe banana in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix in 4 teaspoons of plain, organic yogurt.
- Add 2 teaspoons of honey.
- Stir until all ingredients are combined.
When you’re finished mixing, apply a ⅛-inch layer of the mask to your forehead and let it sit for 15 minutes. When the 15 minutes are up, wash the mask off with lukewarm water and pat skin dry with a soft towel.
To achieve additional hydration, apply a moisturizing serum or cream after using the banana and yogurt mask. Nighttime is an optimal time to use this combination, as your skin can better absorb the hydration at night.
3. Exfoliate And Smooth Skin With All-Natural Witch Hazel
Exfoliation is an important step in the battle to get rid of the wrinkles on your forehead. Exfoliation tightens the skin for a smoother look and feel. It also removes dry, dead skin cells revealing the newer, younger-looking skin underneath.
Look for an exfoliant that doesn’t contain alcohol as that ingredient can prematurely dry your skin. We like all-natural witch hazel for our exfoliating needs. It’s derived directly from the witch hazel plant so there’s no additives or other chemicals to damage your skin.
Simply soak a cotton pad or ball in a bit of witch hazel and rub directly on the skin of your forehead in circular motions. We recommend exfoliating daily. Daily exfoliation can help increase cell turnover, bringing a glow to your skin.
4. Wear Olive Oil At Night
Olive oil has been used for centuries—if not millennia—as a way to keep skin soft, supple, healthy, and wrinkle-free. It’s been used for so long because it works and works well. And just because it’s an old wrinkle remedy doesn’t mean it’s somehow outdated. It’s still one of the best treatments for wrinkles on your forehead other than a specialized serum.
Olive oil is so effective because it contains four powerful antioxidants:
- Vitamin E
- Polyphenols
- Phytosterols
- Hydroxytyrosol
These antioxidants work together to protect against UV light (i.e., the sun), prevent free-radical damage, moisturize, and restore skin smoothness.
For the best results, we recommend rubbing a thin layer of extra-virgin olive oil on your forehead before climbing into bed at night. It may stain your pillowcase, but that can be washed. A yellow-looking pillowcase is a small price to pay for a radiant, young-looking, wrinkle-free forehead.
5. Indulge In A Coconut Oil Massage
This treatment method combines two very powerful wrinkle-fighting tools: coconut oil and massage. Massage is a simple-yet-effective way to break up the lines and wrinkles on your forehead. It can bring extra blood to the muscles and skin which helps to clean out impurities that may have collected there. In addition, massage helps the muscles relax and return to their proper position. Oh, and let’s not forget that it just feels good.
As beneficial as massage is, it can actually do more damage than it’s worth if done without a lotion or oil. That’s why we suggest you use coconut oil as your oil of choice for all forehead massages. Coconut oil is an all-natural antibacterial, antifungal, and moisturizer all rolled into one. Plus, it’s semi-solid at room temperature but turns to liquid when it comes in contact with your skin.
To reap the benefits of both massage and coconut oil, scoop about two finger-tips-worth of coconut oil and rub gently into the skin of your forehead until it is completely covered. Using light pressure, massage your forehead in small circular motions for 10 minutes. This will drive the coconut oil deep into your skin where it can do the most good while relaxing the often tense muscles of your forehead. You can even leave the coconut oil on your skin after the massage is finished for extra healing.
6. Treat Wrinkles On Your Forehead With A Serum
If you’re like us, your time is at a premium these days. You don’t have 10 minutes to spare for a forehead massage or a healing mask. You need a treatment that you can apply in a minute or less so you can get on with your day. A wrinkle-fighting serum is the simple solution to your beauty-routine challenges.
Serums can be applied in a matter of moments, yet provide all-day healing and rejuvenation. All you have to do is apply a serum of your choice in the morning before starting your day to get the most out of its powerful hydration boosting, wrinkle-smoothing, ingredients.
Use the Best Treatment Option
Natural ingredients are indeed a strong treatment for wrinkles on your forehead. However, you can try every DIY mask, oil, or lotion out there, and still never get the unique combination of ingredients that you find in a serum. Ingredients like stevioside, a muscle relaxant that helps minimize future wrinkle creation, and SiO's unique Vitamin C Matrix, make our Serum the perfect treatment for wrinkles, particularly on the décolleté.
