Face masks are one of our favorite skin care practices. We’re especially fond of the professional facial, but they’re so expensive that it can be difficult to afford more than 1 or 2 per year. In between those trips to the spa, we rely on store-bought face masks like the trendy Korean face mask or the charcoal face mask that has spawned so many funny (and painful-to-watch) videos on social media these days. Yes, you want to be careful when using certain peel-off masks so you don’t do more harm than good, but pretty much all of these masks offer some pretty compelling benefits. Face masks can:
- Help you relax
- Detox your skin
- Unclog pores
- Stimulate blood circulation
- Encourage collagen production
- Tighten your skin
- Moisturize your skin
- Help the rest of your skin care routine work better
If you ask us, those are more than enough good reasons to work in a face mask once per week. But as we touched on above, some store-bought face masks can be bad for your skin because of the chemicals and the aggressive adhesive they use. The last thing you want to do in your quest for smoother, wrinkle-free skin is do more damage. That’s where the do-it-yourself face mask comes in.
And one of the best ingredients to include in a DIY face mask is oatmeal. To help you out, the experts at SiO Beauty have created six simple and fun-to-make oatmeal face mask recipes for all your skin care needs. As an added bonus, after the face mask recipes, we’ll tell you about the best way to achieve flawless skin...while you sleep. What could be better than that?
But first, let’s see what we can whip up in the kitchen.
1) Milk & Oatmeal Face Mask
Oatmeal is well known for its soothing and softening properties. That’s what makes it such a great addition to your skin care routine. Combine those properties with the lactic acid in milk—which exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal the smoother, clearer skin underneath—and you’ve got a great recipe for bright, youthful, glowing skin.
Ingredients:
- Whole rolled oats
- Whole or 2% milk
- Cinnamon (optional)
Recipe:
- Measure 1 tablespoon whole rolled oats into a mixing bowl.
- Add 2 tablespoons milk.
- Sprinkle in ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional).
- Stir well until the mixture is smooth and even.
How To Apply:
- Wash your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores.
- Apply the mixture to your face, neck, and décolleté, and let it sit for twenty minutes.
- After the twenty minutes, wash off the mask with lukewarm water.
- Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
2) Coconut Oil & Oatmeal Face Mask

- When the mixture has cooled enough, apply it to your face and let it sit for fifteen minutes.
- After fifteen minutes, gently massage the mask into your face using small circular motions for another five minutes.
- Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.
- When the mask is completely removed, splash your skin with cool water to close and tighten pores.
- Pat your skin dry with a soft, clean towel.
3) Yogurt & Oatmeal Face Mask

5) Almond Oil & Oatmeal Face Mask
If the adjective you use to describe your skin is “mature” or “dry”, this face mask is for you. Its multiple ingredients put moisture back into your tired skin and result in a radiancy that you may have thought you lost forever. Here’s the easy recipe.
Ingredients:
- Oatmeal
- Almond oil
- Banana
- Honey
- Egg
Recipe:
- In a large mixing bowl, add 1 cup boiling water and ½ cup oatmeal.

- Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
6) Vinegar & Oatmeal Face Mask
We like this oatmeal face mask because of the addition of vinegar to the mix. Vinegar is a light acid which means it has antiseptic properties (gets rid of bacteria) but won’t damage your skin. As an added bonus, vinegar even helps balance your skin’s delicate pH. Here’s how to put it to good use.
Ingredients:
- Oatmeal
- Apple cider vinegar
- Honey
Recipe:
- Measure 3 tablespoons oatmeal into a mixing bowl.
- Pour in ¼ cup hot water.
- Add 1 teaspoon honey.
- Mix well.
- Measure 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar and whip into the mixture.
- Let cool.
How To Apply:
- Wash your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores.
- When the mask is warm to the touch, apply it to your face, neck, and décolleté by massaging gently with circular movements.
- Let the mask sit on your skin for fifteen minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Finally, rinse your face one more time with cool water to close pores, and pat dry with a soft towel.
Silicone Skin Patches Are The Best Option For Flawless Skin
As good as DIY and store-bought face masks are, silicone skin patches like those from SiO Beauty are better. In fact, they’re the best option for achieving flawless, wrinkle-free skin with minimal effort. “Why minimal effort?” you ask. Because silicone skin patches are worn while you sleep for all-night healing. You don’t have to take any more time out of your busy schedule to mix up and apply a DIY face mask. Just remove the silicone skin patches from their protective packaging, press onto your skin, and go to sleep. What could be easier than that?
The power of the silicone skin patch lies in the microclimate it creates between your skin and the patch. This microclimate does three important things:
- Pulls moisture up through the lower layers of skin
- Traps evaporating moisture between your skin and the pad
- Absorbs moisture from the air around the patch and holds it close to your skin
All of this extra moisture floods your skin with powerful healing. The moisture promotes collagen growth, hydrates dry areas, smooths out wrinkles, and plumps and firms dull, flat skin. Ahhh, refreshing!
SiO Beauty Lift series patches come in five specially-designed shapes so you can target the problems areas on your face, neck, and chest.
And unlike DIY and store-bought face masks, SiO Beauty’s Lift series skin patches can be worn every night for supercharged healing and wrinkle prevention. No DIY face mask can make that claim.
